Words we use can empower one another. Words we use van paralyze one another. Our words shared impact all who hear them.
I had a phone conversation yesterday that took a lot of concern out of my head and placed contentment in my heart. As I have posted previously in the Morning View, I have struggled working from home. Am I doing enough was the question. I am not in the office, I am not doing, what can we be doing that is enough? During the conversation I shared that I was struggling not being there. The response was beautiful. The response was like this, Pastor, you have shown great leadership by developing creative ways for everyone in the church to be contacted. There have been joy filled conversations with all the phone contacts. Email and social media are booming with care, concern and contact. Then this statement empowered my heart, "You staying home has allowed all of the staff to do the right thing and stay out of the office if at all possible. If you were at the office, everyone would feel like they needed to be there also. You are doing the right thing and showing great leadership." Those words freed me from my doubt, my struggle and my concerns of doing the right thing. I was allowing other words which were implanted in my mind paralyze me, these words empowered and freed me to continue to lead as I seek the heart of God.
When we use words, we impact those who hear them and receive them. We may never know what we say that brings huge impact into their lives. When we react out of anger or selfishness our words are implanted into the one's heart we encounter. Words spoken will last forever.
Be careful what we say and speak truth into the lives of all we encounter. Speak words of love! Speak words of grace! Speak words of freedom! Speak words of empowerment!
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." - Ephesians 4:29-32
