Merriam-Webster defines Christian as "one who professes beliefs in the teachings of Jesus Christ." As an adjective one definitions states Christian is "treating other people in a kind or generous way."
Social media makes it very easy for us to spew anything we think of feel for everyone to know without consideration for the person. My soul is very disturbed when one who proclaims to be Christian does not, or at least it seems by what they write like they do practice what they believe. Sure there is love and agreement with those that are alike believers. But when they encounter the Samaritan, they walk by just like the others. As long as they agree with their religious stance, belief, politics and theology they are alright. As long as they do not challenge their beliefs, they are tolerable, but if there is an opposite take or belief, they are labeled and cast aside. It almost seems to me that there are those who proclaim Christ, and I wonder at some level if all who proclaim Christ, only accept "all" Christians as long as they believe pretty much like they do?
Some of the comments I read from people who fight for what they believe to be right make them to be, act and respond just like those on the other side they despise. They become like the person they despise and justify it because "they are wrong."
I hope I never force someone to be Christian like me. If I abuse my leadership power in such a manner, people may become followers of the concept and definition of who Jesus Christ is. I never want to be just a follower or leader on the outside. I desire as Christian to be transformed in who I am and be different on the inside. My desire is to allow the Holy Spirit live, grow and take over who I am so that PB is mistaken for Jesus Christ. I never want my faith to be used to prove what I believe. I want my faith to prove who Jesus is. I desire authentic relationship and transformation. I want to be different and I desire for the definition of Christian to become an authentic, life changing deeply rooted relationship with God.
Peace,
PB

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” - Romans 12:1-2
I have an idea, how about ALL who proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior start to live like it?? Maybe others would want some of the Christian that you have to share.Peace,
PB
