Selfishness or selflessness? My way or the highway? Live for me or live for others? Do unto others or do to others before they can do it to me first? Well they said. Yes, but he hit me first. Did you see how they reacted? They deserve everything they get. There is no way I can forgive them.
These are many phrases I have heard and perhaps even have used. There are many other self focused statements and actions which are floating in our current culture. We are greatly divided into many segments over many issues.
Are we followers of Jesus Christ or lovers of self? Really, what would Jesus do and how would Jesus live?
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others. - 1 Corinthians 10:23-34
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31-33
Peace?
