Sometimes when I play golf I try too hard. I am easily frustrated when there is no sense of consistency and I actually begin to play worse in such frustration. I just want to hit the ball decent and show signs of improvement throughout the day. I realize I do not play enough golf to shoot scores like I have in my past, but I just want to be decent.
My desire is to be a better golfer. My actions do very little to reinforce my desire. I play one time per week at best and I never practice. But I think in my head I should be a better golfer because I used to be and I want to be. Yet I do nothing to reinforce the desires, with the results culminating in lack of improvement.
Have you ever wanted to be a better Christian? Do you take time to do so? Do you practice being the person God created you to become? Do you study the Bible? Do you spend time in prayer? Do you go to the mountain to refresh and connect with God? Are your thoughts clean and pure?
Much like I do not practice being a golfer, I wonder if self proclaimed Christians practice being a Christian?
Do you? I know I need to do two things, first I need to practice my golf game! Second and most importantly, I need to practice becoming the whole person God created me to become in my relationship with the Creator. Not only do I need to practice my faith, but I need to put faith into action the way God desires for me.
How about you?
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces[a] of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority." - Colossians 2:6-10
