Are you walking with God?
Do you listen for the still small voice?
Do you realize God is with us, walking each moment of each day by our side?
I read these lyrics at a memorial service this past week. As I was driving home, I remembered that it is so important to remember that Jesus walks with us through it all. Jesus is with us in the moments we have nowhere else to turn. Jesus is our strength, our hope and sends us the Holy Spirit as our Comforter. We can walk in the garden and find some stability and peace. We can rest knowing our Savior is with us.
But even in the garden of this song, the last verse tells us to go! We are to go and perhaps walk with another in their garden of grief, struggle and support. We are to share the opportunity with others to walk with Jesus as well.
In the Garden - Words: Charles Austin Miles (1912)
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
Refrain
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
Refrain
May we walk in the Garden and heal, may we realize we are God's and nothing else matters. May we walk with another. Amen!
Peace,
PB
