“I will praise the Lord at all times.
I will constantly speak his praises.
I will boast only in the Lord;
let all who are helpless take heart.
Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness;
let us exalt his name together.
I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.
In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles.
For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
he surrounds and defends all who fear him.”
- Psalm 34:1-7 NLT
Yesterday was a very difficult day. Many of you read my other post about the anniversary death of my sister. Honestly, there were many other things inside my head and heart I was dealing with.
We all have our demons and scars in our past that we deal with. We all have deep seeded issues to dredge through in our lives. As Christians we are free in forgiveness, God forgets our past, except we tend to hold on to it. Others can find it difficult to forgive and forget. I find myself not letting go because of how "horrible" I am. When we do this we become less in who we can be in our relationship with God. We are less with each other and we sell ourselves short. Yet in the Grace provided God does not remember, we just choose to remember.
Verse 4 in this passage was posted on my Facebook page 3 different ways yesterday. Two of my friends that I am not sure even know each other, posted Psalm 34:4 at the same time with only an advertisement in between and another friend shared it in her response on my post about my sister. This is verse 4: "I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears."
In all of our despair the simplest yet most powerful tool we have is to pray to the Lord. Not as a cliche, but as an authentic way of communication with the most loving non logical Spirit of God. Surrender your fears! God will answer.
It is not easy and immediate. Honestly I have been failing for 59 years, but their is a way in the deep loving relationship with God.
God will free us from our fears.
Peace,
PB
