Do you remember?
What are some of the best moments in your walk with God?
Where have you had the best mountain top experience?
I remember going to a Promise Keeper event and there was this band called The Katinas. I had never heard of them and thought it would be a good time to take a break during the conference. Guess what, the next thing I know was that my friends and I were all the way down on the floor right in the front of the stage dancing and jumping around like a bunch of little kids without a worry in the world. It was a spiritual high moment of uninhibited worship before God.
Yesterday, I preached about Job. A very important point I did not spend much time in was that after Job had lost all of his human wealth, property and his children Job WORSHIPED! It was easy for me to jump into worship at Promise Keeper's because the setting was set for worship. Everyone around me was in worship. But Job worshiped in the worst possible moment in his life on earth. Job lost almost everything and he worshiped.
I wonder during the season of life we are in, what would happen if we just worshiped? It is easier to wallow in the pity of the struggles we face. It is easier to have a pitty party and honestly for awhile it might feel better to wallow than worship. But in the long run God will be in the center of our worship and stay on the fringes of the selfishness of wallowing in sin.
“Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies..” - Philippians 4:4-9 The Message
Peace,
