A lot of snow = a lot of shoveling.
When I went out this morning during the normal time for me to write the Morning View I saw an insurmountable amount of snow impeding any opportunity for me to leave my house if necessary. So, I dressed warmly, picked up my shovel, and began. I figured it would take most of the morning to accomplish on my own.
While I was shoveling, the neighbor across the street was trying to get his mother out of the driveway so she could get to work. I stopped my shoveling and walked across the street to help him shovel and push her out of the drive. We cleared their drive and he asked me if I would like help. I said YES! Together we cleared my driveway so that if I need to get out I am able to do so! Two shovels are better than one!
On our life journey we need another "shovel person" to help us make it. In our relationships with others it is vital for the Holy Spirit to be present as we shovel together. We need God in our marriages, we need God in our friendships. We need God, but we also need another shovel. It is so important to have friends we can count on for support, accountability, vulnerability and love. We can try it alone, but even with God we are still better as a strand of three.
My driveway cleaning went so much better with another. So does my life.......
“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” - Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT
Peace,
