As I awoke this morning, I turned on the TV and Joyce Meyer was speaking directly to me. She was actually teaching on the Philippians 2 scripture passage Pastor Abby and I are preaching and teaching about for Lent.
She used a phrase that I have heard before, but this time it deeply jolted my soul. She reminded me that "God emptied God's self to take on the form of human as Jesus and come to earth." She followed up with a reminder that, "as God became human, we are born human and are to take on the form of God."
I was spiritually 2X4ed to re-align my soul and spirit to the form of God I am called to take on. What a novel idea as a believer in Jesus Christ to take on the form of God and not to just take it on for myself, but to take on the form of God for the world.
I will strive to live each moment to live remembering that I have committed to take on the form of God.
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.” - Romans 8:1-4 NLT
What a simple, humbling awakening this morning.
Peace,
