It is Saturday, the day after Jesus died. Yesterday he said it is finished and it is......
I thought he was the one, after all the miracles he has done, after all his teachings and living out the love he spoke about and now it is finished.....
Saturday, what a day of grief and sorrow.
Saturday, our minds are everywhere.
Saturday, questions with no answers.
Saturday, a time for inward self inspection.
Saturday, what do I believe? What do I feel? How can I go on?
“At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. Then at three o’clock Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” - Mark 15:33-34 NLT
I wonder if all day Saturday the ones he loved were asking the same question? Jesus, Jesus, why have you abandoned me?
I wonder often today do we feel lonely and abandoned? Do you sometimes ask Jesus where he is? In the Saturdays of our lives it can be difficult to remember that joy comes in the morning. Resurrection day is right around the corner, but when you are living out Saturday, perhaps Friday is all we can see.
Has God abandoned you? Is it finished?
Peace,
PB
