My neighbors have been out and working diligently in their garden. They take great pride and satisfaction in preparing, planting, caring for and harvesting the results of their labor. They produce wonderful vegetables and provide healthy options to consume during the summer and save for the winter. The other awesome result of their garden is that they share with us! We benefit from their labor and care of the produce. The produce they receive are a direct result of what they plant and how they care for it.
We are to live the same way in our walk with God. We are not created to be independently selfish. We are created to plant, water and harvest in all of God's creation. We do not live only for self satisfaction, but we live to please the Spirit of God and for others around us. We are to do what is right and never tire of doing good. Take the opportunity to do good for everyone, even those it is difficult for us do good for. When we do what is right in the soil we are given, much will be harvested.
Like my neighbors, prepare, plant water and harvest into the lives of all around you. Do what is right and the harvest will be amazing.
“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” - Galatians 6:7-10 NLT
