Do you ever experienced distance from God? Have you walked away from God? Are you striving to live in the principles of your relationship with God but are disconnected? Has sin overwhelmed your soul? Are you going through the motions of religion but not experiencing relationship with God and others around you? Does your heart just flat out hurt and your soul yearn to be fulfilled?
I am reminded of the story of the Prodigal Son and the Loving Father. The son left and lived a miserable life away from the best life offered to him. When he realized he would be better off being a servant at home working for dad, he went home. Upon arrival, what happened next was a miracle healing of his soul.
“So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.” - Luke 15:20-24 NLT
My soul yearns for a party when it struggles with being distanced from God and others. Verse 20 states that the Father ran to his son. For me, that is one of the most beautiful and powerful verses in the Bible.
God is waiting to run to each one of us.
Peace,
PB
