Do you ever gossip? Have you been gossiped about?
You know, you get a good bit of information which may or may not be true and you share it with someone else? Perhaps even a better way of justifying it, is, that we can share a "prayer request" with another believer and tell them all the partial and twisted truths. After all, the more information I have about you, the more specifically I am able to pray for you. Twisted truths and lies destroy people. Sometimes lies are calculated and used to intentionally hurt others. We need to stop hurting people.
What if you are the victim of gossip? The Psalmist shares the following from Psalm 5.
“My enemies cannot speak a truthful word.
Their deepest desire is to destroy others.
Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave.
Their tongues are filled with flattery.
O God, declare them guilty.
Let them be caught in their own traps.
Drive them away because of their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them sing joyful praises forever.
Spread your protection over them,
that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
For you bless the godly, O Lord;
you surround them with your shield of love.” - Psalm 5:9-12

Take the time to read all of chapter 5.
Be protected by the shield of the love of God.
Peace,
