A Morning View

I have let the weeds and vines take over. They were so high at the end of the driveway that it was difficult to see. So I became motivated, took about 20 minutes of time and I cut, pulled and wrestled with them. Upon finishing, the view of the road is much more clear and it is now safe to pull out into the street. Sort of silly to let it grow without care for so long, when simple maintenance would have kept it from being a huge problem.

How about your relationship with God? Have you let the vines and weeds of busy block your view? I don't have time for God because I have so much to do? It is so easy to just stay home and watch the church service in my pj's with coffee, plus if I don't like the sermon or song, I can turn it off. My kids have so many activities that church events take second place. It might be as simple as I just do not feel like reading, studying, praying or going to fellowship events, and I certainly do not want to be asked to do something for God, I have a busy schedule......... 

“In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” - Jeremiah 29:12-14

Seek God, search for God and God will clear the weeds.

A Morning View From the Porch at Lakeside

I typically am not a big breakfast eater. Every year at Lakeside for Annual Conference there is a group of men who invite me to breakfast at The Patio. Every year I go one time and enjoy talking and joking with this group and every year I order the same breakfast, a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese and a glass of water. It is tradition, you know! I often get asked why I do not order something different? My answer is, "if something is good and satisfies my hunger, why should I order something different? They seem to have a taste for many different flavors of seeking to fulfill their Spirit hole in their lives. A Morning View From the Patio

I have been gently encouraged by someone who was nudged by the Lord to make a list for the next week of positive characteristics which make me who I am.   Today I begin with compassion. I truly strive to be compassionate with everyone I encounter. I desire to reach out and care when others are struggling. Even if I encounter someone who has hurt me in the past or I may not connect with, I try to put aside differences and find a way to share compassion with them. After all, Jesus was compassionate all the way to death. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Peace, PB

A Morning View By the Wood Stove

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”   - James 5:16 NLT   So what does it mean to be righteous? Merriam-Webster Dictionary says; "  :  acting in accord with   divine   or   moral   law   :  free from guilt or sin"  So I wonder when I pray and seemingly nothing happens, am I free from guilt or sin? I often wonder why God has not heard my prayer. Perhaps because I am not properly prepared to pray?  Then I go down the path will I ever be heard? The beginning of James 5:16 tells us to do what? Confess our sins to one another be healed and then the self imposed barrier will be gone. This takes courage and it takes vulnerability, but I wonder if we practice this in our lives how much more God shows up. Peace, PB
